This year first grade spent much of the second trimester learning coding. Below, students can continue the work that was done in class. If a student forgets their secret picture, they may e-mail me for it. I am also providing a link to the Hour of Code. Students may enjoy Hour of Code because they can practice their coding skills using different games and themes. The Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify "code", to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. To try out hour of code, click on the box to the left or click here. Once your at the page, choose the pre-reader option at the top of the activities. Please e-mail me at [email protected] if you have any questions.
Prodigy is a free, adaptive math game that integrates math concepts into a fantasy style game that students love playing. As a web-based game, Prodigy can be accessed at school and at home on virtually any device. If your child would like a prodigy account, please visit https://sso.prodigygame.com/game/start and and click on the green sign-up box. Have a parent add your first name and last initial and chose a password. Click on sign-up again. The game will prompt you to write down your login and password. Click on the done key. The game will then ask you to add your class code. The code for Notre Dame's 1st grade class is 80841E. Type in the code and start to play. Have fun!
